REMEMBERING THE TITANS

Posted under Prof. Ivo (Author), Real Life Fiction by Atticus Finch on August 8, 2008 2:24 pm

On this day, I remember with fondness and thankfulness those people- children and comrade in arms, who used to form my days of priorities.

For schools are never the concrete buildings or the saintly regal name in stainless letters, or inter-office memoranda; schools are about the chubby kids running around the campus keeping up with the lean ones; schools are about the youngsters writing intently on their math test paper, brows crossed and scrambling for the perfect solution; schools are about parents huddled together during the Christmas program, cameras in hand clicking away.

Schools are about PEOPLE and there is no other more important reason to teach in school and stay in school than the people we meet, affect, change, save. No matter what the difficulty, regardless of the tiredness, underneath all the frustrations, THAT is what makes all the seeming thanklessness pass- caring for people that REALLY matter.

None matter more than the pre-schoolers who teach us patience, the teens who discover character, the parents who approach us in friendship, and the teachers who demonstrate commitment.

In conclusion to an era, this is my final tribute to those people who have mattered.

let it go,

let it roll right off your shoulder
don’t you know

the hardest part is over

let it in,
let your clarity define you
in the end
we will only just remember how it feels

our lives are made in these small hours
these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate

time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain

let it slide,
let your troubles fall behind you
let it shine

until you feel it all around you
and i don’t mind if it’s me you need to turn to

we’ll get by, it’s the heart that really matters in the end

all of my regret will wash away some how
but i can not forget the way i feel right now

our lives are made in these small hours
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate

time falls away but these small hours
these little wonders still remain

  9. In college, no one can replace the secret ingredient of our ‘perfect recipe to happiness’ back in high school. That is why I am truly thankful that those four years of my life had been and will always be as rewarding and as fulfilling as it used to be. Change may be inevitable, but everything that happened to me in UPMB will stay the same forever.
